Yuyutsu R.D. (Ram Dass) Sharma is a Himalayan poet, translator, and journalist who was born in Nakodar, India in 1960 and is now based in Kathmandu, Nepal. Among his numerous books of poetry are Nine New York Poems, Milarepa’s Bones, Space Cake, Amsterdam, and The Lake Fewa and a Horse. Yuyu (as he is affectionately known to his many friends and admirers) has also edited several anthologies of Nepali poetry (translated into English), as well as co-authored a bilingual (English/Nepali) edition of the Hebrew poet Ronny Someck’s Baghdad, February 1991. Widely traveled, he usually spends half the year on tour, doing readings and giving workshops in both the USA and Europe. While in 2012, Yuyu represented Nepal and India at the Poetry Parnassus Festival in London as part of the Summer Olympics. His work regularly appears in a variety of periodicals, and he is currently the editor of Pratik, A Magazine of Contemporary Writing. Yuyu and his wife Shreejana have two children and own a Kathmandu bookshop, the White Lotus.
